Fort Knox image

Fort Knox, Kentucky

This project involved the construction of four 60,000 square-foot building barracks designed to sleep 600 unaccompanied enlisted personnel. The quad-shaped design creates a central courtyard with green space and the buildings are heated and cooled using a geothermal HVAC system. Patriot’s duties on this project included: Soil density testing, footing bearing capacity inspection, reinforcing steel inspections, concrete, and masonry testing, floor flatness/floor levelness, structural steel testing and inspections, and asphalt testing. The barracks received the 2008 Construction Award of Excellence from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Kentuckiana Chapter. The project also received a Gold Rating for the Army Corps of Engineers SPIRIT (Sustainable Project Rating Tool) Awards.
