Arts United Center
Arts United Center — Fort Wayne, Indiana
Patriot provided Construction Materials Testing and Inspection services for the major renovation and expansion of the Arts United Center, Fort Wayne’s iconic community theatre and a centerpiece of the city’s vibrant Arts Campus.
Originally designed by renowned architect Louis I. Kahn and opened in 1973, the Arts United Center underwent a nearly $40 million revitalization to modernize its facilities, improve accessibility, and meet current theatre technology standards. The project transformed the historic venue into a fully accessible, state-of-the-art performance space supporting the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre, Fort Wayne Ballet, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and Fort Wayne Youth Theatre.
The renovation included a fully updated 660-seat auditorium, new accessible lobby and elevators, family restrooms, and upgraded performance systems. As part of this effort, Patriot provided proofrolling, concrete and rebar testing, load and density testing, backfill observations, and micropile and footing inspections to ensure quality and compliance throughout construction.
Recognized globally as one of only a few remaining Kahn-designed performance halls, the Arts United Center draws visitors, architects, and artists from around the world to experience its design and cultural legacy. Patriot was proud to play a role in preserving and enhancing this landmark for future generations.
