Upland Indiana

Upland, Indiana

The project began in the summer of 2010 with the excavation of the basement level. At a cost of $41.7 million, this 137,000-square-foot facility was completed and opened to students and facilities for classes in the fall of 2012. Patriot provided one full-time ACI-certified engineering technician to inspect and monitor the foundation soils, placement of structural and slab concrete, as well as the testing of fill soil lifts. Since this project was an addition to the existing science center, Patriot’s role on this project also included the monitoring of the adjacent structures to reduce the potential for settlement of column and wall footings due to the close proximity of the construction. This involved utilizing a helical pier foundation system to underpin multiple sections of the adjacent structures to allow for construction to remain on schedule.
