Allen County War Memorial Coliseum (ACWMC) "Raise the Roof" - Fort Wayne, Indiana
Construction began on this project in the Spring of 2002 and was completed later that summer. Patriot's primary contact on this project was Mr. Jerry Noble (260-432-9337) with MSKTD & Associates acting as the Owner's Representative for the ACWMC. This project consisted of raising the roof to accomodate the construction of additional seating for the main arena to allow the area's historic venue to host large events than that were once possible. This project was extremely unique to the area in that it incorporated exterior columns with cantilever post-tensioned beam sections that were utilized as the supports for both the the hydraulic jacks used to raise the roof and the new roof once completed. Patriot was integral to this project in that all of the post-tensioning of the cantilever beam sections were observed and inspected by our full-time on-site Project Manager. Patriot's role also included testing of footing, column, and beam concrete for adequate compression strength. Our experience with post-tensioning systems allowed for a smooth transition of a roof that went from original to raised.
