BENTON COUNTY WIND FARM - Benton County, Indiana
Construction began in September 2007 for Indiana's first wind farm in Benton County, Indiana. The project consisted of the construction of 87 turbines spread over 22 square miles of farmland. With the structural engineer as our client, we were able to assist the project in tracking the amount of concrete placed for each foundation and perform yield calculations to ensure that the concrete mass and strength were within tolerances to support each turbine. Once the turbine was ready to be set, we tested the 12,000-psi non-shrink grout for acceptable strength and monitored anchor bolt tensioning. Special curing chambers and temperature monitoring equipment were also utilized to monitor the concrete temperatures during cold weather.
